Process Innovation Engineer for Owensboro, KY

Swedish Match North America Inc., a consumer packaged goods producer and market leader of a broad assortment of smokeless tobacco products, cigars and pipe tobacco, is currently seeking an Process Innovation Engineer for the Owensboro, KY manufacturing facility.

 

This position will provide leadership and project management skills to successfully implement lean concepts and Six Sigma methodologies across the manufacturing division of Swedish Match North America to optimize production and reduce waste in all areas of Operations & Supply.

Major Responsibilities:

· Develop strategy for implementing sustainable Lean concepts within the SMNA factories and support departments

· Determine Lean Manufacturing training needs and provide/facilitate identified training for the factories

· Recommend process improvements to streamline product flow and champion implementation of process improvements/lean manufacturing concepts for the factories

· Lead cross-functional critical business projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma techniques to identify and eliminate waste throughout the business

· Set project parameters, assemble, train, and lead the teams through the improvement process to ensure project objectives are met, effectively utilizing resources that are not directly under their control to achieve both individual and team goals

· Lead all aspects of deploying Lean initiatives, including training, education, mentoring, facilitating, reporting; & motivating

· Conduct audits on lean initiatives to ensure the highest quality standards and continuously improve products and processes

· Create a contagious enthusiasm for lean implementation by communicating the benefits of lean implementation in terms of customer desires and benefits, company impact, and employee stake

· Requires periodic travel to work with different business units

 

 

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or Manufacturing, Masters degree or equivalent experience a plus. Lean / Six Sigma training, experience and results a must - certifications preferred.

Experience: Three to five years of experience participating in and leading Lean or Six Sigma improvements in a manufacturing environment. (At least three to five major successful Kaizen events or related process improvement projects.) Experienced with statistics software and able to analyze large amounts of data.

Skills: Lean methodologies and tools, such as Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping. AutoCAD experience preferred, but not required. Strong leadership and presentation skills, both oral and written. Solid understanding of PC tools such as Minitab, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional: Qualified candidates will be expected to pass a drug screening test and a background check.
