Product Development Design Manager - Candles

Candle-lite has an immediate opening for a Design Manager with 7+ yrs of experience. We are seeking a talented, dedicated and organized individual who is capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of creativity.



Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading creative efforts to research trends, developing concepts and overseeing creation of product lines and packaging graphics.



Product category responsibilities include candlesand candle accessories. A strong sense of lifestyle, fashion, home décor and color trends and the ability to interpret these trends to meet defined consumer markets and corporate goals is a requirement. An understanding of the Mass Market is important.



Job duties will include, but will not be limited to:

1. Develop and present creative concepts for new product lines and line extensions.

2. Manage and lead the creative efforts of the design team to ensure that product and graphic designs meet market trends and corporate goals. Hands on creation of product, graphics and packaging as needed.

3. Manage color trends and, as needed, provide color comments during the color approval process.

4. Present concepts and product designs to internal teams and management as needed. Support concepts and designs with trend and competitive market research.

5. Manage design team to perform all duties needed to execute new products from concepts through finished art.

6. Evaluate prototypes with team members and recommend design revisions as necessary.

7. Work closely with Fragrance Development Manager to understand fragrance concepts and to provide color palettes that are appropriate for selected fragrances.



Qualifications include but may not be limited to:

1. BS or BA in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design or other design-related major

2. Minimum of 7 years experience in creative product design required.

3. Proven ability to successfully deliver new products from design conception to finished product.

4. Proven creative aptitude and experience analyzing product lines and market trends.

5. Proven exceptional skill analyzing color trends and developing successful color palettes.

6. Proven ability to professionally and successfully present ideas, visually and verbally, to cross-functional teams.

7. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while meeting project needs.

8. Ability to travel as required; up to 10%

9. Must be able to work around fragrances, potpourri, candles, etc. regularly throughout the day.

10. Must be able to distinguish subtle color and fragrance differences.



Additional Qualifications include but may not be limited to:

1. Understanding of the science involved for specific candle forms and other candle accessory materials such as metal and ceramic

2. Understanding of emerging and declining trends and the impact they will have on product currently available in the marketplace..

3. Proven, dynamic presentation skills to cross-functional teams.
