The Position



The successful candidate usually gets involved at every stage of the development process, from design to production and even up to after-sales service. It requires a 3 in 1 hands-on machinist, fabricator and technician able to work with multiple materials and machinery, translating engineering sketches, design layouts, CAD drawings and verbal instructions into finished machined parts. The ideal candidate should be capable of product fabrication, assembly and testing and be highly competent in operating lathes, mills, grinders, welders and other machine shop equipment and tooling. She/he should also be capable of assembling and testing these components into a finished product. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:





• Responsible for equipment and workspace layout for maximum efficiency.

• Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient model and prototype fabrication.

• Arrange and confer with suppliers and vendors to determine product fabrication.

• Arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, parts and tooling.

• Evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

• Conduct First Article inspections and issue reports for management disposition.

• Work with rest of engineering departments to produce cost estimates for new designs.

• Troubleshoot problems with products and issue engineering reports.

• Attend meetings with other team members.
• Participate in design reviews and provides input as required.

• Experience in working with fabrication of metal tubing, formed and stamped metal components, machined metal parts, welding, fasteners, injection molded plastic parts, packaging, silkscreen and digital printing, coatings, fabrics, cutting and sewing.


Candidate Requirements

Four – six years machine shop experience with machinery and welding. AutoCAD or other Drafting experience. Able to read engineering part and assembly drawings, understand Bills of Materials. Demonstrable understanding of the kinematics of mechanisms. Familiar with Microsoft Office software. Understand geometric tolerances and be proficient in math. Candidate should be able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Good attitude and strong work ethics needed. The ability to get along and work affectively with a wide range of people on a team. The ability to manage time effectively and good organizational skills. Self motivated and directed team player that will carry out engineering assignments of a broad nature. Willingness to travel.
