Production Supervisor - Reno

Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers, on one shift of a 5-day, multi-shift operation, engaged in operating a variety of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to manufacture and assemble parts used in production of lawn & garden products by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

§  Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.

 

§  Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area and communicates inventory levels to materials and management.

 

§  Interprets “Bill of Materials,” specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.

 

§  Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders.

 

§  Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.

 

§  Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.

 

§  Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products, which fail to meet standards.

 

§  Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

 

§  Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

 

§  Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

 

§  Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

 

§  Assigns staff and schedules work to facilitate production and maintain budgetary goals.

 

§  Maintains time, production and associate progression records.

 

§  Assists with cycle counts and all other forms of inventory control and accuracy.

 

§  Other duties as required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities  

Directly supervises associates in the Plastics & Light Assembly Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience on shop floor of an injection-molding and/or light assembly environment in a supervisory or technicians role with strong plastics processing skills.

 

Computer Skills  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate level of knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.  General PC navigational knowledge is required.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

Related experience in a manufacturing environment a plus, but not required.  Demonstrated experience in leadership skills and experience in resolving conflict a plus, but not required.

 

Ability to prioritize, organize, and work under pressure and with all levels of the organization.
