Sabra Dipping Company is a rapidly growing food manufacturing company headquarterd in Astoria, New York.   The company focuses on Mediterranean style dips and spreads and is the top selling maker of hummus.  Sabra ships a variety of 26 spreads and dips nationwide.

 

Purchasing Director

Currently the Company has an opening for a Purchasing Director in its Astoria location.  This position will manage the purchasing department and supervise two purchasing manager.   Person will be responsible for managing key relationships, providing low cost raw materials, sophisticated hedge strategy, assuring that each raw material meets the correct quality and specification, develop a repeatable process within the purchasing group, and  drive excellence in functional execution.  In addition, the person should drive excellence in functional execution, deliver the best practices and strategic sourcing, cost modeling, supplier relationship development, and total cost of ownership.   Position works closely with R & D sourcing ingredients and packaging during new product development.  This is a hands-on purchasing and inventory position.

 

Responsibilities include: Managing and facilitating supply management activities Implementing sourcing strategies to support corporate and divisional objectives, providing company competitive advantage in the areas of materials, supplies, and services Providing best practices with cost effective inventory levels using JIT.  Works closely with departments including Scheduler, R & D, Director of Production, and Director of Logistics Developing and implementing sourcing strategies to include spend analysis and market consideration to control Company's purchase material costs and to assure an adequate source of supply Driving continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process Managing and optimizing supplier performance, including continuous improvement, innovations, obsolescence, and reduction in total cost of ownership Directing the department to ensure that it is adequately staffed to achieve results Training new buyers on Company systems, policies and procedures to ensure best practices are utilized across the team Striving for 100% service level to our customers by expediting deliver of produc with buyers, vendors, and transporation companies.  Verify inventory and delivery schedules.  Successfully resolve problems with delivery, supply, invoicing, and rejections

 

Job Requirements: Strong negotiation skills and ability to mediate situations with suppliers, employees, and others Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others At least 5-10 years purchasing experience Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Power Point) BA/BS in Business, Materials Management or equivalent and 5+ years progressive procurement experience, and 3 years as of manage rof 3 or more people Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories, and processes
