Quality Assurance Supervisor

Mid sized food manufacturer is seeking a second shift Quality Assurance Supervisor for their Kansas facility. This position would be used to develop motivated individuals for career advancement in Quality Assurance. Food experience is a must, relocation available for well qualified candidates.  RESPONSIBILITIES: - Demonstrate ownership and practical knowledge of all QA and Regulatory programs and apply them to make sound decisions and execute quality oversight. - Supervise shift Quality Assurance employees and conduct quality inspections.  Success is judged based on the ability to execute quality objectives as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager, as well as adherence and execution of all company policies and programs associated with Foods Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance.- Conduct operational and pre-operational sanitation inspections including micro sampling to verify the effectiveness of sanitation activities.  - Regular completion of Food Safety, CCP and sanitation paperwork that should ultimately result in no FS deviations.  FMP and Sanitation audits as directed with documented corrective actions and follow-up as necessary.  Take action in response to negative micro and Shelf Life data to drive improvement.- Prevent process or product failures. Continuous improvement of product quality through attention to process and specifications with organized activities including Operations and QA.  - Activities will include training employees in quality functions, daily product shows, being current on specs and updating Operations, monitoring giveaway and yields for opportunities.- Manage staff members so quality objectives are met.  Manage HR duties, performance plans, work schedules, vacations, assignments, and special projects as well as training and personnel development for shift direct reports.- Seek continued education and achieve the competencies for a QA Manager. Attend all required line, plant and department training and routine meetings making presentations and asking questions as required.- Supervise 4 to 6 employees in the Shift Quality Assurance. Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Food Science or related field.- 3 to 5 years experience in the meat industry preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  - Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.   - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  - Knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software; QMS system and SAP. - Knowledge and understanding of food science and meat processing.- Knowledge of USDA, FSIS, HACCP, and SSOP requirements.- Knowledge of SPC and statistics.- Working knowledge of quality assurance principles.- Ability to uphold regulatory, company, and customer standards.- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. - Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time.  Travel is limited, however additional travel may occur if circumstances require. For a complete list of our open positions, please visit our website at www.jobsforsuccess.com.
