Position Summary:
• Reports to Americas Capabilities Manufacturing & Engineering Excellence Director
• Is responsible to implement the Manufacturing Excellence program in Americas, through energizing and facilitating the Virtual sites work streams (SHE, Quality, TPM, Innovation etc) and driving the Virtual site loss eradication program.

 

 

Responsibilities:

·  Position Summary

• Reports to Americas Capabilities Manufacturing & Engineering Excellence Director
• Is responsible to implement the Manufacturing Excellence program in Americas, through energizing and facilitating the Virtual sites work streams (SHE, Quality, TPM, Innovation etc) and driving the Virtual site loss eradication program.
• Is the Manufacturing expert to drive the Virtual ways of working within the Manufacturing networks around the virtual sites.
Il. Position Responsibilities (Expected Work)

• Strategy into Action: Deploy the Manufacturing Excellence targets from Regional Strategic plans to individual sites and support their implementation through Virtual sites.
• Benchmarking: Deploy though training and systems implementation a limited number of KPI’s to set targets and monitor performance against. Define scope for benchmarking process and execute it through Virtual Sites (e.g. data collection, improvement plan and continuous monitoring)
• TPM: Co-ordinate the TPM activities within the Virtual sites such as losses teams and self assessments; monitor then Award process for a particular Virtual site.
• Virtual site: facilitate virtual sites through coordination/leadership of work-streams accordingly with the Sia established.

• Lead cross-functional teams and multicultural teams;

• Negotiate to best advantage by clarifying objectives, effective planning and the use of appropriate techniques;

• Influence and obtain commitment from senior management and peers to the manufacturing agenda within local and regional Product groups;

• Develop and manage Manufacturing skill base without line authority over the people;

• Manage implementation of programs in the business without direct report resources;

• Finding the balance between staying connected / engaged in delivering the business targets and not being consumed by daily process activities he/she will be involved with the internal customers.
• Being able to effectively transfer knowledge across plants and Virtual Sites to leverage business results delivery.
IV. Scope

• Supports Manufacturing activities across up to 10 factories in Americas.
• Direct impact on Manufacturing performance KPI’s improvement regionally such as plant efficiency, capacity utilization, VIP program (5% of production cost)
• Usually tends to work collaboratively/ interdependently in cross-business teams.
• Interacts directly with Product Group senior stakeholders (Supply Leaders) and functional experts within the business.
V. Skills & Competencies

General: Knowledge and Information management Need to be able to develop and transfer effectively improvement cases and skills from one plant to another and within Virtual sites.
SC Make: Driving Production Performance and Improvement Need to be able to identify manufacturing performance gaps, analyze and determine root causes for losses, develop feasible action plans drive improvement.
General: Business Process Design & Management
Need to be able to drive sensible target setting, aligned with PG strategies and Manufacturing Excellence ambitions. Also must be able to draw applicable frameworks for virtual ways of working.

 

 

Education:Education University degree preferred – Engineering, however experience and proven track record may substitute 5 years experience in general business. Appropriate functional / technical expertise.TPM, Planning and Manufacturing awareness is required. Financial awareness is desirable.

Breakthrough Thinking Must be able to find new ways of tackling manufacturing performance and change the current paradigm in order to drive new value for Unilever from the external insights as well as leveraging North America and Latin America best practices. Holding People Accountable Must be able to establish a relevant agenda, clearly articulate expectations and follow up to achieve the substantial manufacturing performance improvements within the Virtual sites work streams. Organization awareness Need to be able to identify the key stakeholders, understand issues and develop course of actions that promote positive behaviors and healthy tensions, preventing unnecessary conflicts and relationship management waste. Strategic Influencing Needs to be able to push forward ideas and new ways of working that drive manufacturing performance through the Virtual Site framework. Role requires knowledge on Manufacturing operation and its impacts on the Supply Chain.Top performers will possess substantial understanding and expertise within manufacturing to drive performance improvement. The ability of managing and driving development of more than one RVS will determine the grade of the position.
