Research & Development Engineer - CONSUMER PRODUCTS

Creata’s Innovation and Emerging Technologies team is looking for an R&D Engineer with the insatiable desire to discover and develop innovative new products.  This position requires an active imagination, the ability to uncover/develop valuable ideas, and the drive to deliver a continuous line of exciting innovations.

 

Key Tasks

 Discover and evaluate new technology, mechanisms, materials, trends, processes, services, and business models.Brainstorm and generate ideas for premium and retail products / services.Manage multiple product development/ R&D projects from concept to completion.Collaborate with innovation team members in the US and Asia.Build and maintain relationships with key suppliersDeliver a constant flow of new ideas and innovative products.

 

Skills and Abilities

 

The ideal candidate will have a BSME and at least 2 years of product development experience, preferably in research and development. This position requires an investigative personality and the ability to quickly understand technical concepts and new technology. The candidate must be able to demonstrate competence in the following areas:

 

Product Development in Plastics: The R&D Engineer must show a strong affinity for mechanical design and have the ability to review mechanisms and understand how they work. Must understand common manufacturing processes such as tooling, injection molding, decorating, and model making. Basic knowledge of electronics is also required. SolidWorks proficiency is a plus.

 

Project Management: Must be adept at short and long-term project management. The R&D engineer is responsible for the on-time delivery of projects, resource coordination, costing, and risk management. The R&D engineer will have constant interaction with outside suppliers as well as internal design, engineering, product safety, and legal teams.

 

Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills: This individual will work closely with a variety of Creata colleagues, as well as vendors. Must be an outgoing, engaging person who enjoys interacting with others.
