If you're as excited about the future as we are, consider this opportunity.Mattel, Inc. is seeking an imaginative and responsible Sr. Copywriter to join its Tyco R/C Packaging department at its Design Center located at the World Headquarters in El Segundo, California. This talented team is responsible for the creative and innovative packaging of the award-winning Tyco R/C product line featuring TriClops Remote Control Mutant and Digital Remote Control Terrainiac!This Sr. Copywriter is expected to take a lead role in development of packaging; responsibilities are not confined to effective writing. A Sr. Copywriter at Mattel is a hub, garnering many opinions, and sleuthing a great deal of information. He or she then produces a copy document that is part fact, part aesthetic. To fit this unique position an applicant needs two key qualities: 1) WRITING SKILL, impeccable grammar, ironclad spelling, ability to write persuasively and 2) MANAGEMENT SKILL, responsible attitude, confidence, and the ability to cast ahead and find what will be due, not what is overdue. All these skills are equally important. Copywriting experience a plus, but writing experience is enough if partnered with proven complexity management.KEY RESULTS AREAS' Write compelling, persuasive retail copy' Collect facts from a multitude of sources and accurately repeat on package' Manage complex schedules and track deadlines' Develop toy names and properly administer to trademarks.' Proofread packages in development.' Write for and coordinate the translations of copy for international packages.' Stay abreast of current trends in culture and marketplace.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES' Create concept product names and concept body copy for package panels.' Generate own ideas and implement ideas of others via assigned projects.' Partner with all related departments including Marketing, Merchandising, D&D, Costing, etc.' Work with the Legal Department to trademark approved names and taglines.' Manage schedule milestones.' Handle multiple projects and product segments. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:' Experience in professional writing, demonstrating sound communication and strategy' Experience in corporate environment where managing complex responsibilities was involved' Demonstrated ability to write clearly, and on-strategy' Demonstrated ability to synthesize strategic messages and multiple opinions onto one clean packageCOMPETENCIES REQUIRED' Outstanding written language skills' Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects.' Conceptual/development of naming' Proven ability to work well in a tight team environmentEDUCATION REQUIRED:' BFA/BS a must plus minimum 3-5 years related corporate experience.
