Sourcing Manager
Kensington Computer Products Group is seeking a Sourcing Manager who will plan and execute sound, logical and achievable sourcing strategies, develop and manage formal plans to improve cost, quality, and supplier performance, and develop and manage a diverse international (China, Vietnam, Southeastern Asia) supplier base that will deliver the appropriate financial and service performance for current and new products.
We are seeking an individual who has the vision, and ability to gain the necessary product knowledge to recommend potential new products to improve the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) sales, in order to lead make/buy reviews to make the necessary decisions for the business.
This role will:Implement and execute an identified sourcing strategy to support the objectives of attaining and maintaining the lowest total supply chain cost. This includes sourcing, supplier identification and evaluation. Develop the necessary supplier base to provide current and new product development needs in capacity, service, cost, and supply chain performance. Accumulate quarterly data and metrics to insure the above performance is met, and maintained. Link with internal global and regional cross functional teams to support new product launch and life cycle management activities to optimize service, liabilities, product costs, and inventory.Communicate and interact with all disciplines within the business unit, including ACCO's Central Services, to ensure understanding of the set strategies, set goals and targets, and attain a degree of consistency and effectiveness in the sourcing activity. Establish procurement/supplier milestone schedules and insure schedule adherence as agreed upon by the transition team.Clearly articulate the strategy, metrics of performance and take the appropriate actions necessary to insure success. Negotiate for contracts for finished goods/raw materials in support of the business unit's product lines. Create and finalize supply agreements with strategic suppliers.Build strong business relationships, have strategic thinking, solid business acumen and the ability to effectively communicate solid decision making abilities and interpersonal influence.
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in engineering, business administration, or operations/supply chain management or related field. American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification and NAPM CPM certification desirable.Substantial experience sourcing in China, Vietnam, India, and Southeastern Asia for purchased finished goods. A strong understanding of the Asian supplier base. Evaluating and conducting business with off-shore suppliers is essential. 8 + years experience supporting an outsourced Asian manufacturing base - including hands on new item launch support working within matrixed cross functional teams. Broad knowledge of international manufacturing/purchasing operations and procedures is required. In depth knowledge of materials planning, purchasing, specification, project management/control, import logistics and customer service is required. Experience with supplier-direct to customer and VMI programs a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software. Oracle 11i, Cognos Reportnet, and Project Management software knowledge desirable.
SkillsExceptional negotiation skills and strong knowledge of purchasing and materials management principles and guidelines. Ability to quickly assess complex and conflicting demands and variables to independently suggest solutions to solve the problem at hand. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) to both internal and external executive management and cross functional NPI teams. Excellent time and project management skills. Detail oriented and independent.
