Job Description: ACADEMIC ADVISOR

Reporting to:  Dean of Student Services

Position type: Exempt

Location: Orchard Park, NY

 

The primary focus of this position is to meet the academic advising needs of the students enrolled in Online Programs and to coordinate activities that include registration, retention, recruitment and basic technical guidance. 

 

Responsibilities:Actively participates in OrientationNew student and continuing student retention activitiesCourse schedulingRegistrationFSR recruitmentAcademic reportsAcademic filesStandards of Academic ProgressParticipates with other staff members in the planning, directing and monitoring of special campus projects.

 

Competencies and Skills:Communication and interpersonal skillsOrganization and time managementProblem solving and ability to make sound decisionsAdaptableTeam orientedAbility to work unsupervisedProduct knowledgeStrong computer and Internet skills

 

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree required.  Masters preferred.  Experience in higher education a plus.

 

Work Hours:

Due to varying time zones of online students, two evenings and rotating Saturdays required.
