We seek a self-starter to primarily report to and provide assistance to the Director of the Legal Writing and Research and Moot Court Department. Additionally, you will provide assistance to the Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing, work on a daily basis with the Academic Program Coordinator and take responsibility for administrative tasks related to the Department in general, including providing assistance with programs, initiating communication with teachers, teaching assistants, students, alumni, judges, attorneys, community members and department employees, assisting with the oversight of student employees, answering phones and questions from students, teachers and the general public, preparing a variety of reports, letters and memos, drafting routine correspondence and acting as a representative of the Department to the College and the legal community. You will also be expected to manage section assignments for students, TAs, team members and student competition coordinators, coordinate with the Records Office on all enrollment issues, assign units for students, manage attendance records and process payroll, assist the Director with the preparation of the Department budget, track/monitor all budget expenditures and organize catering and hospitality for Department events.
To qualify, you should have a Bachelor's degree supplemented by 3+ years of increasingly responsible administrative support work experience, preferably in an institution of higher education, a law school, a law firm or other legal environment that included substantial public contact and independent coordination of projects. A team player with familiarity with legal terminology, systems and style is essential, along with strong business English, WordPerfect, MS Office and Internet Explorer skills and the ability to work effectively, accurately and efficiently, independently compose and proofread correspondence, compile records/files and meet and deal tactfully and professionally with all individuals. Supervisory experience preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This opportunity offers an annual hiring salary range of $42,636-$59,694, commensurate with experience and an excellent fringe benefits package.
