ADVISOR, Professional Service Specialist 2

Description:

Engage in academic program advisement for the Elementary Education specialization program in the College of Education. Candidates are expected to engage in student advising for the Elementary Education Specialization Program that is delivered on-site, off-site, on-line, or in accelerated formats. Candidate will advise and communicate with students on a regular basis; explain the content area and sequence of courses; review transcripts of transfer students; communicate with department chairs; hold program information sessions on-site and off-site; and attend departmental open houses/retreats. Candidate will be responsible for students meeting college policy, specific benchmarks, certification program requirements, and graduation requirements.



Qualifications:

Master's in counseling, student personnel services, educational psychology, or closely related field with two years of relevant advising experiences. Familiarity with New Jersey licensure regulations, New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers, New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education Standards. Superior communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. A commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people. Desired: Strong higher education counseling skills and knowledge of enrollment management.
