ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS - Corporate and Foundation Relations
The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations works with external associations, corporations, and foundations to identify their interests and needs with respect to interacting with Tufts University, and facilitates dialogs and discussions with administration, faculty and staff in all schools to maximize a mutually beneficial partnership in which both organizations realize their objectives. The Office is the primary office on campus responsible for philanthropic and other relationships with outside organizations that yield assets to the University to further the mission of education, research and training.
The Associate Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation prospects for support to educational and research programs, with a primary focus on support to the Tufts University School of Medicine. Support to the Tufts Drug Discovery and Development Institute at the Medical School is a specific responsibility of this position. The Associate Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations is responsible for maintaining a consistent level of 30-40 relationships with organizations, with the anticipation of raising significant resources for University life science initiatives. The portfolio is expected to be weighted toward corporate prospects (80%, both corporate and corporate foundation organizations), with private Foundation outreach a collaborative responsibility with a senior development colleague at the Medical School. The Associate Director will identify appropriate corporate and foundation prospects for priority and strategic projects and programs and work effectively with faculty and administrators in the development and submission of proposals. She/he will maintain close linkages with corporate and foundation donors to continue and increase giving. The Associate Director in this position will also work as a key member of a multi-faceted team focused on the University´s campaign and academic strategic priorities.

Preferred Qualifications: An advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a life science field is strongly preferred. Senior level experience in industry in a marketing/sales/external alliance or a tech transfer role is a plus. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of institutional advancement and corporate and foundation relationship management. Experience in developing solicitation strategies and writing effective proposals is highly valued. A prior Tufts connection is a plus.
