Academic Support Coordinator (8168)

The Academic Support Coordinator maintains contact and fosters motivation of students from the time of matriculation through graduation by utilizing school and community resources to provide superior customer service. This position also assists with student retention strategies. Key Responsibilities Immediately upon student enrollment, welcomes students and their families to the Online Program to establish rapport and determine what services are needed. Coordinates the answering of questions and facilitates the start, re-entry or completion of classes. Identifies at risk students and then contacts each student to assist them in returning to successful class participation. Maintains the student referral system ensuring that students requiring assistance with financial, academic, technical or career services issues receive the required assistance. Creates and maintains a list of community agencies and social services in order to refer students when issues require trained counseling. Investigates student complaints and prepares initial report for presentation to program dean. Assists students with academic and attendance issues including mentor assistance, tutoring and other academic support services. Keeps information current on students such as mailing addresses in order to coordinate mailing of grades, textbooks, etc. Required Skills: Bachelors degree in a social science discipline, human resources, business or related area from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education or equivalent training is required. 1 to 2 years collegiate administrative experience or experience in student affairs, customer service, counseling/advising or related area. Possess good interpersonal skills and negotiation/persuasion skills. Computer literacy with working knowledge of collegiate software is a plus.
