Adjunct Instructors to teach Architectural Drafting and Graphic Design/Multimedia

Westwood College is currently seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach Architectural Drafting and Graphic Design/Multimedia courses for our 08 May term at our Arlington, VA location. Basic Drafting This course presents basic skills, knowledge, and applications needed to pursue training in architectural or mechanical computer aided design and drafting. Basic techniques of board drafting and related instruments are introduced which the student uses to produce drawings. Page Layout This course will assist students in developing skills to combine imagery and typography in the production of effective layouts using industry standard software. Topics covered will include the function of type in design, pagination, paragraph formatting, layout, and the fundamentals of prepress. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to import images and format text to create multi- page documents. Multimedia: Audio-Video This course provides students with an overview of video editing, sound editing, and special effects. Topics covered include working with timelines to animate still clips, importing and editing digital video and audio clips, and creating special effects. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to use industry-relevant non-linear editing and special effects software to produce a short video. The role of the Adjunct Instructor is to effectively communicate with the students and help them achieve their educational goals. The instructor maximizes retention of students toward the completion of their programs and provides students by fostering a proper educational environment so that the students may derive the maximum benefits from the program for which they are enrolled. JOB QUALIFICATIONS At the time of hiring Westwood College faculty and education department instructors are required to have 4 years of career experience and hold a completed graduate degree from a U.S. regionally or nationally accredited university. In addition, state licensing and national accrediting criteria apply. Faculty with international credentials are required to present an official U.S. degree evaluation by AACRAO or NACES recognized evaluation agency. 1. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software. 5. Strong oral and written communication skills 6.
