Administrative Assistant, Office of the President The New School's Office of the President seeks a qualified, experienced individual to work as a full time Administrative Assistant for the Office of the President. Reporting to the Director of Administration/Staff Writer, the Administrative Assistant would interact with the entire staff of the President's Office working on a variety of administrative tasks and writing assignments.  Responsibilities:Assisting with the research and preparation of briefing materials and meeting folders for the President's internal and external appointments. Assisting in the coordinating of Public Programming events. This would include managing a schedule of events, overseeing room reservations, maintaining contact with panelists, assisting in researching event topics, ordering and processing of materials, coordinating with Special Events on event details, maintaining contact with Communications regarding press materials and press coverage for events, and assisting with event registration. Assist Director of Administration/Staff Writer with the production of letters as well as writing letters. Provide general office support and general support to the President, undertake special projects, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned. At times, answering busy phones for the President's Office, and covering the Receptionist's desk. Ability to take on new projects as they arise while managing a short and long term work load. Requirements:Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collegial and professional attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a demanding, fast-paced environment; and flexibility. Self-starter who is able to work both independently and as a cooperative team member. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel, as well as with e-mail and other basic office software. 3-5 years administrative or project management experience required, preferably in a university or other non-profit setting.
