Job Summary:  Following content specifications provided by course writers, the Artist / Animator creates engaging, original graphics, animations, and multimedia presentations to enhance student understanding of the material presented in KCDL online courses.  The Art / Animation Specialist also obtains public domain photos, illustrations, and other graphics as needed. 

 

The Art / Animation Specialist works with content specialists and quality assurance staff to ensure that graphics and animations meet both content and technical specifications. Maintains version control for graphics and interactives, and assists the Art / Animation Lead with maintaining a repository of public domain imagery used in projects, along with documentation on the sources from which they were obtained.

 

Job Responsibilities: Creates original graphics, animations, and multimedia presentations for KCDL online courses, following content specifications provided by course writers. Obtains public domain photos and graphics as needed for use in KCDL courses Ensures that graphics and animations are optimized for delivery over the web.

Other Activities:

· Provides assistance to Curriculum Development department, Art / Animation Lead, and Course Delivery Manager as required.

 

Adaptability Requirements:

High-Position requires a high degree of adaptability.  Incumbent will be faced with a variety of issues on a day-to-day basis and will be expected to respond to these issues appropriately.

 

Working Conditions:

Minimal Travel

Office environment

40hr work week (normally); exceptions may occur as situations require.

 

Experience and Education:Minimum of 2 years experience creating digital graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator, and creating animations in Flash

· BFA preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Expertise in Photoshop,  Illustrator, and Flash Ability to create high quality, original graphics, illustrations and animations. Familiarity with ActionScript to control interactive Flash presentations Expertise in optimizing graphics and animations for the web Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Knowledge of copyright issues related to use of graphics from external sources Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining high levels of quality and productivity Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally Ability to work effectively with remote team members

 Preferred:HTML experience Experience creating graphics for online or computer-based learning preferred 3D Character modeling and animation experience Digital video production and editing experience
