Assistant Director, National Center for Asphalt Technology

The National Center for Asphalt Technology located at Auburn University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director.  The Assistant Director performs professional work requiring the very highest levels of knowledge and abilities in the application of engineering concepts, principles and practices applied to research, development, testing, design and analysis of asphalt materials, processes, and equipment; and provides executive leadership requiring oversight responsibility for program development, operations, finance, marketing and public relations. Responsible for executing the overall philosophy and strategy for the organization including fiscal accountability, financial and budgetary soundness, operational readiness and audit integrity. Must be able to coordinate and supervise the work of others. This is the executive and managerial level job involving the most complex work for the application of advanced level engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks in the Asphalt Technology Center. Member exercises independent judgment and discretion about details of work involving alternatives and analysis in the complex cases. Work is self-directed and unusual matters are referred to other assistant directors or the director for a team resolution.  

Minimum qualifications are a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Civil Engineering or related field plus ten years of experience in asphalt technologies research and/or management of asphalt research/field work. Knowledge of asphalt materials, design, and technology, and knowledge of marketing techniques, project development and management are required. A Professional Engineering Licensure is required. This job is reserved for those few individuals whose work and accomplishment in asphalt technology research and development are widely known and published.  

Desired qualifications are degrees in Civil, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution.  Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
