Assistant Director of Development

Job Description

The new Assistant Director will work under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Law School Development, and in collaboration with the existing Assistant Director. This position focuses on developing high quality alumni activities including all events, and the solicitation and stewardship of major gift/special gift (25K+/special gift $1K+) prospects and donors

Essential Job Responsibilities


-Develop a plan for alumni activities and events, including a basic ROI analysis, oversee event planning for all departmental events. 

-Identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of major/special gift prospects for the School of Law. 

-Under the direction of the Assistant Dean and in collaboration with the other Assistant Director leadership for all School of Law alumni events. 

-Management of 50 - 100 prospects, conduct at least 10 prospect visits monthly with the goal of soliciting 20 to 30 prospects a year. In the first year it is expected that the following fundraising goals are met: closing 10 new President's Ambassadors gifts ($1000+), and developing a pipeline of 10 qualified major gift (25K and above) prospects. The second year in this job will require a transition to working with higher-level prospects, and an appropriate number of major gifts solicitations and closings that will be negotiated at that time. 

-As a prospect manager, prepare and implement plans for all assigned prospects. Submits contact reports in a timely manner and attends prospect manager meetings as appropriate. 

-Provide appropriate briefing materials and conduct briefings for volunteers and other key staff in major and special gift solicitations.

Requirements-

A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1-2 years experience in fundraising with proven success in soliciting gifts from individuals. 

-Ability to clearly articulate the fundraising priorities of the law school in support of the mission and vision of USF. 

-Willingness to travel, initiate relationships and work with volunteers. 

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 

-Strong communication skills which include the ability to write proposals and accompanying materials, stewardship reports and letters, as well as the ability to listen carefully and patiently to prospects and donors. 

-Capital campaign experience preferred.
