POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The City College of New York, a public, urban, culturally diverse institution with an enrollment of approximately 14,000 students, is one of twenty-three colleges that comprise the City University of New York.
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director is responsible for managing graduate admissions at The City College of New York. The Assistant Director will perform the following duties:
• Assist the Director in creating the strategic goals and objectives of the Admissions Office as they relate to graduate admissions. Implement these goals and objectives and evaluate their success.
• Recommend polices and procedures to improve the graduate admissions processes at the college.
• Manage and oversee the integration of anticipated masters' and Ph.D programs into the existing admissions process.
• Supervise full and part time graduate admissions staff.
• Manage all aspects of the graduate admissions process for the College of Liberal Arts and Science and The Grove School of Engineering including the review, authentication and evaluation of student applications and related records.
• Oversee the evaluation and review of foreign academic credentials.
• Oversee the maintenance and ensure the integrity of the graduate admissions database. Develop specialized statistical reports for all graduate programs for the Director, college executives and the University.
• Serve as liaison between the Office of Admissions and departmental faculty and staff responsible for rendering admissions decisions.
• Manage the development, planning and implementation of the College's graduate recruitment efforts including on and off-campus events, communication plans and advertising campaigns. (Local travel and some evening and weekend work required).
• Draft and prepare written communication, including letters, applications and recruitment publications.
• Oversee the maintenance of prospective student and applicant correspondence.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four (4) years experience in higher education are required. College admissions and graduate recruitment experience a plus, as is experience with foreign evaluations. Strong organizational abilities and excellent oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of computer systems to support enrollment management initiatives. Ability to manage multiple priorities, working in a large diverse urban setting and interface with various levels of administration and staff. Valid driver's license and access to a car preferred. Availability to work evenings and weekends.
