Assistant Director of Physical Education & Athletics

Sarah Lawrence College is a highly selective, coeducational liberal arts college of 1200 students located in southern Westchester County, 15 miles from New York City.  The Department of Physical Education & Athletics seeks an energetic team player for their professional staff.

Responsibilities:

•         Assist with overall management of the athletic program.

•         Serve as Head Coach for one sport.

•         Schedule athletic contests and assist in coordination and planning for transportation, meals, etc.

•         Work with Facility Manager to coordinate event set-ups for athletics.

•         Assist with supervision of athletic contests.

•         Hire, train and supervise student employees.

•         Teach activity classes in the Physical Education program as assigned.

•         Chair the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

•         Evening and weekend hours will be required.

•          Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•         Master’s degree required in Sport Management, Physical Education or related field.

•         Two to four year’s of administrative experience in college athletics preferred.

•         Previous coaching experience at high school or college level required.

•         Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of physical activity classes is desired.

•         Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

•          Computer competency required.

Starting Date:  July 1, 2008.  Twelve-month administrative staff appointment with benefits.
