TITLE:   Assistant Director of Youth Learning Institute Headquarters and

Education Center

 

LOCATION:  Pickens, SC

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

The Assistant Director works to implement and maintain site and programs at our Headquarters based in Pickens, SC.  We are located about 20 miles from Table Rock Mountain and have access to a variety of adventure and outdoor opportunities.  Job duties include program development and implementation (including training staff) in areas such as adventure, summer camps, adult programs, and “think shops”.  For more information you can go to our website at www.clemson.edu/yli

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

 

-Develop and implement new programs to utilize existing components for use in

 experiential learning environments.

-Write curriculum for various programs in the Institute.

-Train various staffs to implement adventure curriculum for their specific program

-Trainer for Catalytic Learning, HeartMath, Multiple Intelligences, and Star Lab

 Programs.

-Coordinate summer camps and various weekend/weekday programs (Camp

 Voyager, CCATS and CSI in Pickens).  

 

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Youth Learning Institute Headquarter and Education Center

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

-BA or BS in Parks & Recreation, Social Sciences, Environmental Education, Natural

 Sciences, High Adventure, Education or related field is preferred.

-A minimum of 3 years of experience in youth programs to include youth at risk.

-Must have knowledge of principle/practices relating to accelerated and experiential

 learning.

-Knowledge of management and or administrative practices.

-Ability to prepare reports, make presentations.

-Ability to build community collaboration.

-Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt and work hard as part of a team pursuing an objective.

-Must be physically able to perform the tasks required; and the stamina to work long hours.
