Assistant Lecturer, Instructional Labs

Seeking two individuals to provide laboratory teaching assistance to undergraduate students in Introductory Biology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry instructional laboratories. The ideal candidate will work closely with faculty lecturers and lab director to teach and supervise the students. This individual will teach the lab exercises, provide some technical assistance regarding laboratory preparations, and assist with the preparation of lecture and laboratory exams. This individual will also attend lecture, hold office hours, perform various grading duties, and carry out any related tasks as assigned or requested.   Most of the candidate’s time will be dedicated to teaching multiple laboratories sections and grading exams and write-ups.  Must be a team player with good communication skills and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.  Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.  Position open until filled, or no later than August 6, 2008. Los Angeles area residents only need apply (re-location is not included).

 

Job Type: This is a nine month fulltime contract position starting from mid-August, 2008 to mid-May, 2009 with the possibility of renewal based on performance and need.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree with at least one year of experience. Directly related educational experiences are a plus.
