Associate Dean for Marketing & Communications

ASSOCIATE DEAN OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
Columbia Business School seeks an Associate Dean of Marketing and Communications. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean of Marketing and Communications oversees the strategic communications and marketing for all programs and departments of Columbia Business School. The Associate Dean manages the departments of Marketing, Public Relations and Communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The Assoc Dean will plan, coordinate, and integrate the communications and marketing activities across all programs and departments of the Business School, including the MBA, EMBA, and Executive Education programs. This includes oversight and strategic management of the marketing budget.
2. The Assoc Dean's responsibilities will include the coordination of all media, print, and web communications to the public, media organizations and constituencies of the Business School.
3. In addition to the departments of Public Relations and Communications, the Assoc Dean will assume responsibility for a coordinated marketing presence for the School. In addition to the MBA, EMBA, and Executive Education programs, the Assoc Dean will be responsible for new initiatives to increase visibility and frequency of positive media interaction of faculty, the Dean, and alumni of the School in the press and corporate community.
4. Working with the faculty, staff and students to create and maintain a consistent plan for internal communications.
5. Working with the Dean, the Board of Overseers, and the Senior Staff, the Assoc Dean will coordinate efforts to continue to distinguish and enhance the brand of the institution.
6. Develop a marketing plan which coordinates the various advertising and travel activities of the MBA, EMBA and Executive Education programs.
7. Develop a marketing and communications strategy in support of two distinct priorities of the School: to serve as a recognized bridge between theory and practice; to ensure the value of an MBA education which supports a lifetime career of business leadership and entrepreneurship
8. Support and develop the on-going response activities to media inquiries and announcements of the Public Relations staff.
9. Evaluate and prioritize the print and publication program of the School as well as hold an advisory role in the CBS Publishing imprint.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required. Advanced Degree highly desirable. Minimum of 10 years experience required in the Marketing and Communications fields.
Must be able to work well with people at all levels of the organization. Must have excellent written, oral, interpersonal communication, organizational and follow through skills. Writing and editing experience necessary. News and/or public relations writing experience helpful. Must demonstrate flexibility and ability to perform well under stress; and managerial experience in supervising projects and/or directing the activities of public relations staffs. Must possess understanding of the job at the strategic as well as tactical levels.
