POSITION SUMARY / PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Managing Director of the Office of Career Management at the Smith School of Business, the Associate Director acts in a representative capacity to both new and established external constituents including, but not limited to representatives and members of corporate, government and non-profit agencies, organizations, and companies to provide professional opportunities for all Smith students and market the students, curricular programs, research centers, and faculty research of the Smith community. The Associate Director also takes on additional staff responsibilities in relation to CRM, student event management and marketing communications efforts on behalf of the department and school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Focus on growing existing and establishing new strategically important relationships with corporate, government, and non-profit entities. (70%)
2) Actively participate in the inbound student admissions process via interviewing, applicant package evaluation and yield management. (20%)
3) Assume an active role with student affinity and industry clubs and attend annual Career Conferences as appropriate. (10%)
Note: Although these are the primary duties for this position, this person is expected to work as a member of a team and accept other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO PERFORM WORK:Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred. Travel is required as is a valid driver’s license. Travel may include overnight stays. Additionally, staff is expected to work from 8:00am to 5:00pm, and longer hours are anticipated during the busy recruiting season in the fall and spring.Experience:
Working knowledge of the MBA and undergraduate business marketplace is critical, with 2-4 years of experience working within a recruiting or job placement function. Experience in traditional Marketing activities, including development and implementation of a Marketing plan. Corporate / industry experience in marketing, finance, sales, or consulting although not mandatory will be considered a plus. Prior management of MBA graduates is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the MBA and undergraduate marketplace, knowledge of US employment laws, excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, creativity, and an ability to work as a member of a diverse team.

Proactive – solution oriented, offering creative ideas for Marketing to our employers, students, and other constituents.Superior customer service skills when interacting professionally with corporate recruiters, students, faculty, administrators, and staff exercising tact, discretion, and judgment in all areas of work. Aptitude for logical and abstract reasoning in order to organize and manage work flow; and work on several projects simultaneously.
