Under the supervision and direction of the Benefits Resource Manager, position will provide receptionist and administrative support to the Benefits Staff in a fast paced environment in the Office of Human Resources. Receive, re-direct, and respond to standard departmental calls, and greet and direct visitors and clients in a respectful and courteous manner. Collect and distribute incoming departmental and US mail, and incoming faxes. Coordinate staff calendars and arrange meetings for Director and Managers with vendors and outside clients; set up and maintain filing systems and file storage maintenance.
This position interacts with various staff, faculty, and alumni throughout the university, as well as external vendors and employers; candidate must be able to handle confidential information, provide an approachable and inviting environment to staff, visitors and clients and must remain flexible.
Formal training beyond a HS diploma of 6 months to 1 year; with more than 2 years and less than 4 years experience. Must handle confidential information appropriately, provide an open and welcoming environment for staff, visitors and clients. Must have ability to effectively interact with difficult visitors and clients, remaining flexible, approachable, and courteous.Excellent verbal and written skills, interpersonal skills, and telephone and listening skills.Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.Experience with Oracle, Eudora, Word, other desktop programs and office equipment.Must be reliable and dependable.
Preferred: Knowledge of Cornell campus and departments helpful as well as Cornell policies and procedures. Knowledge of Cornell's travel and administrative policies and procedures helpful.
No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
