Business Continuity Manager

Description:Purpose of the Job/Principle Responsibilities:Business Continuity Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of business continuity, emergency response, and campus security strategies and plans. The Business Continuity Managers primary goal is to ensure the continuity of Kaplan Higher Educations most critical business functions in the face of adversity. This role will interface with departmental and campus leads to ensure that process documentation, escalation plans, and contact information are maintained in accordance with established corporate standards. Typical Activities:- Develop, maintain, and manage the all inclusive KHE Business Continuity Plan including Kaplan University and KHEC administrative facilities- Interface with KHE departmental and KHEC campus leads to ensure regular maintenance of process documentation, escalation plans, and contact information- Research and implement best practice risk management and BCP methodologies - Conduct routine BCP plan reviews and fieldwork - Business analysis associated with the implementation or update of business continuity measures, including but not limited to risk analysis, business recovery requirements, emergency response recovery option analysis and testing- Develop and administer process recovery strategies and crisis planning - Manage threat and vulnerability assessments- Evaluate, develop, and implement policies, procedures, standards and training targeting physical plant security, quality control, and technical security- Maintain thorough project documentation and communications according to accepted project management methodologies - Monitor project progress and inform supervisors of status updates and important milestones - Provide associated deliverables that assure project success such as process and maintenance documentation- Manage project work, closely collaborating with other business units, support groups, etc... for the implementation of Business Recovery Plan - Ensure business continuity is a part of normal business practice, development and training - Prepare monthly reports including operational results, financial performance, and accomplishments to specified goals, objectives and metrics- Support on-call operations for emergency needs and after hours escalations- Continually build knowledge and proficiency in Business Continuity concepts and lifecycle services Likely Activities Breakdown:- Development and Maintenance of Business Continuity, Emergency Response, and Security Plans: 90%- Other Duties: 10%Qualifications:Experience Required:- Bachelors degree required- 3+ years risk assessment, business continuity, or similar experience- 2+ years project management, or similar experience- Expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite including Project and Visio Position Requirements / Skills Required:- LDRPS software knowledge Preferred.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Demonstrate capacity to work in a project-centric, mission critical environments- Strong analytical and problem resolution abilities- Organized, able to plan 3-6 month projects - Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects - Detail and deadline oriented; flexible to rapid change- Highly motivated - Mastery of fundamental project management skills- Strong technical knowledge, program management, and resource planning skillsMeasurement of Success: The Business Continuity Officer will be evaluated based on (a) achievement of specified goals, (b) accuracy and timeliness of work product, and (c) adherence to and documentation of policies and procedures.NOTE: This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, or requirements associated with the job.
