Candidate Development Specialist

General Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager of Candidate Development, plan, develop, coordinate and carry out a range of creative, effective candidate sourcing and talent acquisition strategies to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of Candidate Development program. Promote Yale as an employer of choice to a diverse pool of potential candidates. Serve as liaison to candidates for staffing representatives.
Position Description: Independently manage the candidate sourcing process for assigned job requisitions as a strategic partner to recruitment, with ultimate responsibility for creating a viable candidate pool. Plan, develop, coordinate and carry out a range of creative, effective candidate sourcing strategies in order to create a viable and diverse candidate pool for open and/or hard-to-fill positions. Leverage resources and share information with partners in recruitment to facilitate an effective search process. Develop and implement procedures to aggressively seek qualified candidates via internal and external databases, employee referrals, diversity initiatives, networking, campus recruitment, internet searches, ads and other recruitment resources in order to create a viable candidate pool for position openings. Build strong professional relationships with external partners such as recruitment agencies and professional associations to ensure a steady flow of qualified candidates. Research best practices for candidate sourcing in the industry and communicate to the recruiting team. Identify opportunities for training and growth.Create and conduct behaviorally-based pre-screening interviews; tailor each interview to the specific needs of the positions and to the unique characteristics of each candidate’s resume. Prepare thorough written assessments of all candidates. Keep recruiter apprised of market trend changes and assessment of competing employers. Prepare and provide data analysis, candidate evaluation and recommendations to Staffing Representative(s) with ultimate goal of placing the right candidate in the right position at the right time. Continually evaluate and modify candidate sourcing techniques as necessary to create an optimal candidate pool. Provide information and metrics on candidate sourcing efforts as needed for departmental reports.Cultivate a detailed understanding of the candidate’s background, skills and abilities, career goals, motivation and timeline in order to ensure optimal placement. Establish and maintain relationships with a diverse pool of talented candidates in order to keep them viable for current and future openings. Participate in Planning and Collaboration meetings with HR Staffing Representative to create recruitment strategy before a job requisition is posted. Provide proactive input on sourcing strategy that may influence the job description. Provide candidate sourcing assistance for recruitment events such as open houses, career days, job fairs, etc. Participate in University and HR task forces and committees on special projects as needed.Have a thorough understanding of Yale’s mission, values, structure, culture and benefits; communicate these facts to candidates to facilitate an informed decision on potential employment with Yale.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience in Human Resources, recruiting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred: Two years of recruiting experience.
