Certified Secondary Math Teacher

Posting Title:             Specific Location: Certified Secondary Math Teacher      1918 Walnut Plaza               Carrollton, TX 75006Posting Description: Immediate opening for a certified secondary Math teacher with experience using math manipulatives and at least 5 years experience. Training in gifted and learning disabilities is preferred. Needs to be able to work a minimum of 7.5 hours per week during school year and 40 hours per week in the summer (7 weeks). Brainworks offers one-on-one tutoring for K-12, college students, and adults. After students have been assessed for math deficiencies, the teacher needs to be able to teach and document progress in all levels of math from basic skills through pre-calculus.Duties:  The teacher is expected to  • Provide an individualized plan to meet each student’s needs  • Use manipulatives to teach concepts even in the high school classes  • Provide and present a monthly progress report to the parents  • Communicate with the student’s teachers  • Prepare students for TAKS, achievement, SAT, and ACT tests  • Use the computer to help teach and practice skills  • Tutor and/or supervise tutoring assistants during individual two-hour sessionsSchedule: Tutoring hours for after-school sessions: Monday and Thursday 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. -12 Noon. Summer schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.
