Childcare/ Daycare Center Director

Berks Women in Crisis, a not-for-profit agency that provides services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, has a current opening as the Director for its daycare center, Emma's Place.  We are looking for a seasoned, caring professional to manage this established 45 child facility, open to children ages 25 months - 12 years.

 

Primary Function

Responsible for overall management of the child development program and supervision of childcare and staff.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Childcare



1. Oversee smooth operation of child development

2. Create and implement an age-appropriate curriculum for 45 children, all levels (pre-school ages 25 months through 5; school-aged children from 6 through 12 years)

3. Administer, when appropriate, finances, personnel, staff training, meal planning and preparation, and transportation

4. Create and distribute monthly newsletters for parents, children, and friends of daycare

5. Coordinate and plan daily activities with group supervisor(s) in the school-age program

6. Evaluate each staff member regularly, a minimum of once a year

7. Designate a responsible individual, i.e., the group supervisor, who is responsible for compliance in the director’s absence

 

General



1. Assure that all contractual, certification and accreditation requirements are fulfilled

2. Supervise staff

3. Participate and/or delegate participation in local& state committee work to advance the rights and protection of children

4. Be knowledgeable of direct service operations & procedures

5. Coordinate maintenance of daily and weekly statistics for department

6. Maintain liaison with agencies that can provide useful service to children and their parents

7.Explore and implement opportunities for community use of and involvement in facilities

8. Work with Property Manager and other BWIC staff as necessary to advance daycare's functions

 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

 

Skills

Experience in an education setting; Ability to supervise a staff of up to ten employees; Management experience





Employment Experience

Three to five years’ experience working with children and staff in an educational setting





Education(general level required or specific courses)

Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2+ years exp, Associate's degree in related field with 4+ years exp. (degree accepted: early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field)
