Job Description – Director, Brookhollow Christian Academy

The vision of the Brookhollow Christian academy (BCA) is to build a high quality primary and secondary educational institution that serves as the model for Christian education and equips young minds and families with the word of God.  Our mission is to provide an exceptional educational environment that meets the social, emotional and cognitive development of each child and to prepare children for commitment and service to God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  

 

We offer the widely used, Christian-based A Beka curriculum, maintaining small class sizes.  We have a talented and dedicated staff for whom we provide on-going professional and Christian development.

 

The Church School Director reports to the Chief Operations Officer of The Church Without Walls and has responsibilities in the following areas:

 

§ Develop and achieve goals, objectives and measurements for the Academy and its staff

§ Selection, training, management, assessment and development of Academy staff in a
  developmentally appropriate program for the children served

§ Develop calendar of events for the academic year that involves students, parents,
  ministries, the congregation and the community to achieve Academy objectives

§ Ensure administrative responsibilities are maintained such as attendance records,
  ffinancial and staff records, appropriate reports for parents, governing boards, and state
  agencies

§ Develop and administer personnel and operational policies and procedures that protect 
  children from abuse or neglect, while maintaining respect for staff, student and
  volunteers.

§ Insure on-going compliance with all relevant state and local agency requirements

§ Develop and/or select academic curriculum that achieves or exceeds the Academy’s
  educational objectives

§ Ensure the safe and successful operation of the Center, including the maintenance of
  proper staff/child ratios and a drug free environment

§ Ensure the Academy premises are consistently clean, attractive and operational at all
  times and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements

§ Develop creative informational materials such as brochures, newsletters, flyers,
  and website updates to achieve regular and effective communications with
  students, parents, and the surrounding community. 

§ Create and maximize annual budgets.  Prepare monthly financial reports including
  explanations of variances.  Maintain accurate accounting of revenue and expenses. 

§ Develop effective relationships with external educational and community organizations to
  enhance the visibility of the Academy and support collaboration
§ Pursue external funding opportunities for the Center that are consistent with the Church
  and the Academy’s mission and values.

§ Coordinate with external agencies to insure the Center is eligible to participate in all 
local, state, and federal childcare assistance programs.

§ Interact with parents/guardians in resolving problems and makes good faith effort to meet
  any needs that may arise. Strive for on-going, positive parental involvement.

§ Develop and implement strategies to ensure full utilization of the Center serving up to the
  maximum capacity of the center.


The position requirements are:

 

§ Must have a current license issued by the State of Texas Protective Regulatory Services

§ Minimum 3 years experience teaching in a licensed Christian Preschool/Early Childhood
  Development program.

§ Minimum of 2 years previous experience at the Director level. 

§ Previous experience and successful track record supervising and developing teaching and
  support staff. 

§Experience overseeing the administration of such functions as budget management,
overall site operations, developing work schedules and maintaining and generating
reports

§ Strong knowledge and exemplary record of compliance with all relevant state agency and
  licensing standards

§ Teaching certification/accreditation in Early Childhood education or related areas
  preferred. 

§ Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. 

§ Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and experience
  with database software.

§ Must be certified in infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

§ A team player, with good interpersonal skills who works well with volunteers

 

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Early Childhood education. A post-graduate degree in education or business administration is strongly preferred.  Previous experience as a teacher is also required with a preference for Christian pre-school or elementary school.  Certifications and/or accreditations in relevant areas are also highly desirable.  The successful candidate must complete a rigorous reference and background check process, including references to establish excellent Christian character
