Community Center Program Director - 08196

The Community Center Program Director is responsible for providing the comprehensive development and implementation of a program structure initiated through the community center that integrates community development, student governance, cultural events, and faculty involvement. This includes,Establishing and/or maintaining collaborative relationships with individuals throughout the University and the Ithaca area community that assist in promoting outreach programming. Developing programmatic policies and procedures regarding facility usage for student programs. Designing and implementing student recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of community center councils, and student employees. Coordinating and facilitating the involvement of residential communities, particularly across residential areas into community center programs and resources. Serving as resource and contact for groups and organizations seeking to use community center facilities. Ensuring coordination between community center councils and program teams with campus governance structures. Coordinating between program and operations by maintaining communications with respective Dining, Service Center, Scheduling, and Support Team managers as it affects the operations of the community centers and offered programs and services. Provide continued development and leadership opportunities for community center council and program staff members. Serve as an advisor and mentor to Community Center Councils, Students Organizations, and Student Program Teams

This position is full-time and includes nights and weekend work.
Representatives will be at the ACUI conference in New Orleans, March 16-19, 2008.
Required include: Bachelor's in Student Personnel/Higher Education, or closely related field required. Minimum two years professional experience working with students in a residential setting or equivalent education or experience. Experience in developing and implementing complex programmatic efforts across multiple communities. Experience in program planning, community development, and supervision required. Proficiency with Word and Excel (spreadsheets, database management packages, communication software, desktop publishing, etc.). Strong Human Relations and communication skills (verbal and written)Preferred include: Familiarity with Pagemaker and Photoshop beneficial. Master's degree in Student Personnel/Higher Education, or closely related field Experience in set-up and use of audio visual equipment would be useful.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
