Community Programs Coordinator

The NC Triad Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure seeks qualified candidates for a FT Community Programs Coordinator to manage education, grants, survivor activities and community outreach. Requires BA/BS/RN in related field (Masters preferred); 2-5 years health education or program management experience; comfort with discussing breast health, cancer and related topics; compassion toward those facing breast cancer; strong computer skills; excellent communication skills; ability to travel frequently within the Affiliate service area using own vehicle; flexible hours to accommodate some evening and weekend work; successful passing of complete background and drug screening. Reports To:               Executive Director

 

Basic Function:

The role of the Community Programs Coordinator is to manage Affiliate activities that directly relate to fulfillment of the Komen vision and mission, including the Komen NC Triad grants, community outreach, education and survivor programs.

o        High personal and professional ethical standards.

 

 

Qualifications:

o        Master’s degree in health education, social work, community health or public health preferred, minimum of B.A./B.S. in public health, social work, or other related discipline. Certification as Community Health and Education Specialist a plus.

o        Two – five years experience in health education or program management, with non-profit or government experience preferred.

o        Certified self-breast exam trainer or willing to obtain certification.

o        Experience managing and working with volunteers preferred.

o        Comfortable discussing breast health, cancer and related topics; compassion toward those struggling with breast cancer.

o        Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft office suite, email, internet and previous experience with database systems.

o        Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

o        Ability to travel frequently within the Affiliate service area using own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed).

o        Occasional travel to national conferences and training.

o        Flexible hours to accommodate some evening and weekend work.

o        Successful passing of complete background and drug screening.

 

Additional beneficial skills (but not required): Ability to speak Spanish, knowledge of local breast health community, successful grant writing or grant management experience.
