SummaryUnder the leadership of the Instructional Design Manager, the Content Designer will create content for and design educational materials in multimedia formats including print, video and software with an understanding of scope and sequence, course hierarchies, usability testing, instructional principles and reusable learning objects. The Content Designer will have an excellent understanding of various instructional methodologies, and will be able to apply creativity and sound instructional principles to solutions.Duties and Responsibilities' Interacts with other Content Designers, Curriculum Specialists, SMEs, Artists, Editors, Graphic Designers, Animators and Programmers to create and design courses within specified budget and schedules' Collaborates and consults with project teams regarding the quality and consistency of design modules' Writes, reviews, and edits content for learning objects' Participates in cross-functional committees to provide and receive input on how to enhance the content' Creates assignments for freelancers and ensures on-time delivery of completed work' Supervises the design, implementation and testing of learning modules' Identifies, logs and resolves software defects in the created learning modules ' Advises on and implements process improvements' Aligns content to state and national standardsPrimary Responsibilities (in order of importance and estimated amount of time spent on each task in no less than 5% increments)' Write, reviews, and edits content for learning objects (40%)' Designs interactions and maintains instructional design documentation (15%)' Collaborates with Curriculum Specialists to receive and brainstorm design requirements as well as to write instructions and feedback (15%) ' Collaboration with Programmers, Artists and Producers to execute the design (10%)' Design review and acceptance, including logging and resolving bugs (10%)' Align content to state standards (5%)' Other assigned tasks (5%) Required Skills' A bachelor's or master's degree in education, educational technology, instructional design or related field' Minimum 5 years of instructional and development experience, preferably in the field of education with a focus on Reading subject area' Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills' Strong computer skills using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPointDesired Skills' Reading Specialist Experience and Endorsement preferred' Knowledge of instructional principles and experience with large and small scale information organization' Understanding of the software development process' Highly organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment' High degree of flexibility and tolerance for change' Ability to lead and collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team' Expertise in documentation creation and management' Experience with Content Management Systems ' Must have an eye for detail and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
