Contracts & Procurement Department

State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, the only academic medical center in Brooklyn, is seeking applicants for their Contracts and Procurement Department which is responsible for the acquisition of goods, equipment and services. The area in which job openings exist include Med-Surg, Clinical, Non-Clinical, Construction, Engineering and Facilities, including capital and maintenance contracts and Contract Administration.PURCHASE ASSOCIATE – Requires a BA/BS and a minimum of 5 years of progressive procurement experience, including supervisory responsibility. In lieu of degree, an additional 2 years experience required. The Purchase Associate manages the Procurement Process, Defines Purchasing Strategies, Conducts Market Research, develops business case to support purchasing recommendations, Project Management and has proven demonstrable leadership skills in contract negotiation, direction and execution.BUYER 2 – BA/BS degree with 2 years of related experience required, or a minimum of 4-5 years of related experience. In lieu of degree additional 2 years experience preferred. The Buyer is responsible for assisting in the facilitation of the Contract & Procurement Process. Participate in the IFB and RFP processes. Assist in the Market Research. Business case to support purchasing recommendations. Conduct negotiations with suppliers on pricing data based on industry standards and handling spot buys and routine orders.BUYER 3 – BA/BS degree preferred, or a minimum of 2 years of related experience required. Obtains support documentation for the procurement record and provides administrative support. The Buyer is responsible to assist in the IFB, RFP and the Contract & Procurement process. Facilitates communication with the office of AG, OGS & OSC. Requests pricing information through negotiation. Customer service liaison.
