Corporate Relations Officer - School of Management (SOM) Marketing/Simmons College

Summary:

The primary purpose of the job is to generate sponsorship and manage sponsor relations for the Simmons SOM Leadership Conference. The second purpose of the job is to work with the Dean or Director of Marketing and the team of directors to advance and manage the SOM's broader set of corporate relations activities.

This position carries a major responsibility for securing significant levels of sponsorship (contributed revenue) for the Leadership Conference which in turn funds the School of Management's scholarship fund. The Leadership Conference is the largest in the Northeast. Similarly, the SOM views the Corporate Outreach Initiative as a critical piece of its strategy for competitive positioning in the marketplace and growth in revenue and enrollments.

Requirements:

This position requires an individual with sound judgment and strong skills in diplomacy and negotiation. The Corporate Relations Officer is an ambassador for the School and must be able to represent our business school accordingly. The selected candidate needs to possess strategic skills to identify and prioritize target companies to approach for sponsorship or other types of partnerships. The candidate must also possess strong communication, presentation, relationship-building and writing skills. Internally, it is essential that the person is very well organized and can communicate effectively with individuals at the Director level and above. The person needs to be motivated by ambitious revenue goals and have a strong commitment to attaining such goals.

Additional requirements include a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years experience in sales, marketing or fundraising within or directed toward corporations and/or large organizations (seven or more years experience is preferred); must understand corporate environments as well as non-profits; must be a self starter and be comfortable working independently; must possess excellent project management and customer service skills with communications ability across departments with diverse audiences; must possess excellent skills using the Microsoft suite of office products and email/voicemail software; and must possess a valid driver's license.
