Brief Description:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in the recruitment, orientation, assessment, advisement, and follow-up of students; assist with data collection and transfer articulation; assist with program relations with community, public and private agencies.

Job Duties:

Assist counselors and instructors with the orientation and college registration of students. E
Create and maintain student and college records in compliance with special projects needs. E
Assist counselors with the facilitation of college support services including various workshops and programs. E
Assist counselors and coordinators with outreach to disadvantaged populations for the purpose of promoting student access to the college. E
Assist counselors and coordinators with the implementation, maintenance and evaluation of student data and records for research and college reports. E
Coordinate liaison activities between the college and various public and private agencies. E
Assist program faculty, counselors, coordinators, and administrators with the development and implementation of special projects and college-wide programs and services. E
Assist students to explore career options, and interpret college policies, program requirements, and student responsibilities. E
Assist counselors with the development of individual student educational plans. E
Coordinate assessments for students; interpret assessment scores and provide input to others on special support services as necessary. E
Develop and maintain special programs as assigned.
Serve on a variety of campus and District committees; attend and participate in meetings, conferences, seminars and in-service training workshops as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.
E=Essential Duties

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to bachelor's degree in psychology, education, liberal arts, or other related field and two years of full-time human services work experience.

This 12 month, 100% position will be at Moorpark College.
The eligibility list being established will be used to fill full-time and part-time positions in this classification up to one year throughout the Ventura County Community College District.

Required Selection Process:

PRELIMINARY SCREENING OF APPLICATIONS & SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE
In completing the application and the supplemental questionnaire (if required), outline in detail your education, training (such as classes, seminars, workshops) and experience. Application materials will be screened by a committee of subject matter experts, who will recommend candidates for participation in the oral examination process. Appearance before the oral examination board will be limited to the candidates with the highest written and/or screening scores.
ELIGIBILITY LIST
Upon completion of the examination, the open / promotional eligibility list will be compiled by combining the screening score, oral score, and applicable seniority and veteran's credits, if any. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the open / promotional eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill the current vacancies up to one year from the date of the oral examination.
APPOINTMENTS
The candidate selected will be recommended by the Chancellor to the Governing Board for final approval.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion shall be probationary for a period of six months.

Salary Range:

$4,296.00 - $5,922.00

New employees may request salary placement above step one based on directly related experience which exceeds the minimum qualifications for the classification. Advanced salary placement must be requested at the time of offer and is subject to verification of qualifying experience and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and/or Personnel Commission Rules.

Describe your training and experience with the implementation, maintenance and evaluation of student data and records for research and college reports.

Tell us about your training and experience relative to working with program faculty, counselors, coordinators, and administrators with the development and implementation of special projects and college-wide programs and services.

Describe your training and education assisting students to explore career options, interpreting college policies, program requirements, student responsibilities, and the development of individual educational plans.

Describe your training and experience in providing and interpreting student assessments.

Describe your training and experience in conducting outreach activities to promote college enrollment and matriculation. Include committees, meetings, conferences, seminars and in-service training workshops in which you assisted or developed.

Starting Salary:
