DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT GIFT AND INFORMATION SERVICES - Advancement Gift and Information Services
The Tufts University Advancement (UA) Division seeks a an Advancement Systems and Services professional who will oversee all gift processing and recording and manage the University´s Advancement information systems (including Advance). Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Services, the Director will foster and support a culture of customer service and partnership across the UA Division with responsibility for a total of 18 staff members (5 direct reports) and an operating budget of approximately $250,000. The UA organization, which includes 180+ staff members, comprises seven school-based development teams (Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Fletcher, Medical, Dental, Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine) and several central offices (Communications and Donor Relations, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, Prospect Research and Management, Alumni Relations, Advancement Services). The University´s current Beyond Boundaries campaign, with a $1.2 billion goal, will continue through June 30, 2011.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Services, the Director of Advancement Gift and Information Services oversees all gift processing and recording and manages the University´s Advancement information systems (including Advance). The Director fosters and supports a culture of customer service and partnership across the UA Division and is responsible for a total of 18 staff members (5 direct reports) and a non-personnel budget of approximately $250,000.
GIFT ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops, manages, and enforces University gift policies and procedures; Accepts, records, and facilitates acknowledgement of all gifts to Tufts; Ensures that all gifts, terms, agreements, and other documentation comply with University policy and relevant laws, regulations, and auditing standards; Responsible for various compliance and reporting requirements (e.g., IRS, CAE, FASB, audit); Provides comprehensive communications program for UA staff, including training, documentation, and regular updates.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT REPSONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership and vision for developing, implementing, and managing IT resources in UA; Strives to ensure optimal system performance and adoption of best practices; Oversees all aspects of UA´s Donor and Information Management System (Advance), including programming, customizations and enhancements; With other Tufts and UA partners, develops and enforces policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of information; Works with UA and University Information Technology (UIT) colleagues to oversee Advance as well as Data Warehouse and well as other information sources and systems interfaces and data feeds; Participates as active partner with UA business units in strategic and operational planning.
Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree At least six (6) years of experience in the advancement/development environment, including both gift administration and information systems management with a minimum of two (2) years of management/administrative responsibility Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, PL/SQL Developer, InfoMaker, Crystal Reports, Powerbuilder, Sungard Advance, and Oracle databases; must possess an understanding of business intelligence tools and data warehousing
Preferred Qualifications: An advanced degree and six to ten years of experience in gift administration and systems management are preferred. Advanced, sophisticated knowledge and understanding of business intelligence tools, data warehousing, and technological changes and best practices in advancement services is highly valued. The selected candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of and experience with gift recording and crediting as well as relevant laws, regulations, auditing and reporting standards. The ideal candidate should have desire and willingness to travel to professional conferences, workshops, meetings.
