Summary:
In addition to teaching, the department chair serves as the immediate supervisor of the faculty and staff of the Developmental Education Math Department.  The responsibilities of the person in this position include but are not limited to the following:  planning and coordination of the instructional program; selection, supervision, and evaluation of departmental personnel; preparation of department reports; administration of departmental budget. 


Qualifications:
Although a Master’s Degree is preferable, faculty who teach in remedial/developmental  programs must hold a baccalaureate degree in a discipline related to their teaching assignment and have either teaching experience in a discipline related to their assignment or graduate training in remedial/developmental education.
Mastery of instructional delivery systems best suited for developmental students
Demonstrated familiarity with post-secondary developmental education concepts and practices.
Demonstrated ability to teach mathematics skills from arithmetic through intermediate algebra in mastery-based, lecture, and/or non-traditional formats such as paired courses and learning communities
