Summary:
The Department Chair for Early Childhood Education (ECE) reports to the Division Chair of Public Service Technologies.  The ECE Department Chair is a member of the full-time faculty and teaches classes.  Primary administrative responsibilities include program development and management, budget development and management, accreditation, planning, and supervision of full-and part-time faculty in the department. 
 
Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree plus 18 hours in Child Development or related field. Transcripts must meet standards of one of the regional accrediting bodies as recognized by the Council for Higher Education (CHEA), i.e., Southern Association of Colleges & Schools, etc., as applicable.
• Three years of Early Childhood field experience required. 
• Teaching and community college experience required.
• Knowledge of NAEYC associate degree accreditation standards.
• Management experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
• Possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its “open door’ policy. 
• Demonstrate personal and professional competency in Early Childhood field. 
• Demonstrate the ability to teach a group of children
• Demonstrate knowledge of community resources
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.
