POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The Graduate Career Management Center of the Zicklin School of Business serves the MBA and MS populations, including alumni, within the Zicklin School. The student population totals approximately 2,000, and students enter with an average of 5 years of pre-MBA/MS work experience. The Director of the Graduate Career Management Center is a key member of Zicklin's graduate leadership team who provides strategic and forward-looking management for the daily operations, fiscal planning, staff development, and delivery of student-centered, comprehensive career and internship services. The Director sets and executes the Center’s overall strategy for both student and employer services. With students, our goal is to deliver programs that help them define and pursue their aspirations and empower them to develop lifelong career management skills. With employers, our goal is to develop and maintain strong ties with the business community, collaborating closely with alumni and employer representatives to meet their needs and contribute to students’ professional development. The Director also communicates the Center’s goals, strategies, and needs to all constituencies; ensures consistent messaging in communications and marketing; and collaborates with each constituency on activities and policies related to students’ career management and employment opportunities. This includes building and maintaining ties between academic activity and the career management process. The Director reports to the Executive Director of Graduate Programs.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develops and implements strategic plans according to the Center’s mission, School and College goals, and market realities, and manages growth accordingly;
• Partners with the deans and directors of various graduate programs on the development of career programs and initiatives that affect students’ marketability to employers;
• Oversees the collection, calculation, and reporting of student employment outcomes data according to the standards set by the MBA Career Services Council and ensures that accurate data is submitted to all media publications and School/College offices;
• Manages internal and external surveys and the Center's program budgets;
• Assesses the Center's programming and develops sustainable processes to improve efficiencies and drive continuous improvement in programs and services;
• Leads and develops several full- and part-time professional and administrative staff; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of relevant experience in career services, human resources, higher education administration, business, outplacement, marketing, and/or a related field are required. A Master’s degree and experience with MBA students in a school of business are strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of student development, job search strategies, employment trends, integration of career development technologies, and outcomes assessment. Prior experience with budget development and managing and motivating staff is required, along with proven ability in strategic management. Certification, training and/or experience with career development software and interest inventories are preferred. Candidates must have excellent verbal, written, organizational, and career counseling skills, as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage multiple demands and projects. Candidates must also have strong leadership skills, proven ability to manage a staff, and an understanding of the mission, values, and culture of a public university.
