Duties And Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director is responsible for designing and leading implementation of a comprehensive annual fundraising program, sustaining the current success, and maximizing future growth of the $8 + million in unrestricted annual support to the Harvard Law School. Oversees all Annual Fund programs including: Reunion Giving, Direct Mail, Phonathon, Class Agents, e-campaigns, Alumnae Giving, HLS Student Campaign, as well as other targeted constituent appeals and programs. Develops and implements a strategic growth plan related to volunteer and alumni cultivation, which includes donations, stewardship and the volunteer experience. Collaborating with the Communications staff, provides input for donor and related alumni communications. Works closely with Leadership Giving Staff to coordinate overall fundraising strategies, as well as integrate with other HLS mission-specific initiatives. Identifies recruits and works closely with the Fund's leadership volunteers including National Fund Chair. Manages the Fund's top-level non-reunion giving programs (gifts of $10,000 and over) and is responsible for executing solicitations. Oversees the HLS Fund Council. Develops and implements the Fund's strategic and annual operating plans. Collaborates with other development departments and serves as a liaison to other Law School and University offices. Manages a $1 million operating budget. Serves as a member of the HLSAC Management Group. Manages a team which includes 5 professional and 5 support staff.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree and eight or more years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably including substantial annual fund program experience. Additional Qualifications: Management experience at a private institution of higher education is a plus. Superior leadership qualities and a proven ability to raise significant annual support required. Excellent communication and organizational skills is essential. A demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff is required. Proficiency with fundraising databases; experience with BSR Advance is desired. Frequent travel and some evening/weekend work is required.
