Bridgepoint Education’s Director of Corporate Communications is responsible for managing, directing and overseeing all public relations activities for Bridgepoint and its subsidiaries. The Director will develop and execute an external communications plan for all corporate announcements and activities, coordinate media interaction and lead and manage our internal PR team as well as any external vendors and consultants. He/She will ensure consistency of both content and messaging for all interaction with the media, external communications, accreditors and government. The incumbent is also responsible for planning, developing, and delivering the internal communications and website content associated with external events and announcements. The applicant should have strong experience and placements within the financial and trade media. Our Director also needs to have demonstrable experience with investor relations, publicly-traded companies, as well as ones that are pre-IPO.  Crisis management and communications experience is required.

 

The Director will also position and develop individual strategies, on a regional and national level, for Bridgepoint’s University properties. Experience with private equity portfolio companies or high growth companies a plus.

 

Candidates must have the ability and experience to:Develop, implement, and oversee a strategic communications plan for Bridgepoint Education, as well as customized plans for Ashford University and University of the Rockies (and any subsequent Universities Bridgepoint acquires) inclusive of media relations, investor relations, external announcements, executive visibility program, internal communications, crisis communications, philanthropic partnerships etc. Lead our communications efforts through the potential transition of privately held to publicly traded, based on substantive previous experience with public companies and investor relations.Manage the internal PR team a well as collaboration with external consultantsServe as front-line liaison for all media inquiries and develop relationships with key reporters at the national, trade, and local level.Effectively communicate organizational Distinctions and Advantages to public forums.

 

Candidates for the Director of Public Relations position should meet the following requirements:

 Committed and results-oriented Public Relations and Marketing Professional who provides operational and creative direction, management and support through strategic and tactical planning expertise. Possesses in-depth knowledge of corporate communications, finance/transactional PR, investor relations and crisis management. Develops and oversees implementation of successful public relations campaigns that position Bridgepoint and its subsidiaries in public forums and with the media, governments, financial and investor community. Writes and copy-edits with broad-based exposure to on-line and off-line media outlets. Successful at pitching media on story ideas. Copy is concise, creative and polished.Builds strong and cohesive teams from diverse groups; including marketing, PR, advertising, communications professionals and media. 7-10 years experience in public relations/media/investor relations at an executive level (Director, VP, etc.) either internal, agency-side, or within higher education, masters’ degree preferred. Works well in a dynamic, hardworking culture, and can take ownership and develop and lead a strong and meaningful public relations strategy for one of the fastest growing companies in America.
