Director of Financial Aid  

 

To serve as Director of Financial Aid, providing direction and leadership for Financial Aid staff, and manage Financial Aid with a special emphasis on compliance with federal regulations, South University/EDMC policy and service to the students.  To ensure all aid is paid in a timely basis.  To ensure that all annual Financial Aid staff evaluations are completed.

 

Key Job Elements:

1.  Assure that the Financial Aid team is in compliance with Federal, State and EDMC rules and regulations.

2.  Hire, train, manage and supervise Assistant Directors of Financial Aid and Financial Aid Officers.

3.  Provide that all students (new, re-entry, and continuing) are planned and aware of their financial obligations to the school as well as the appropriate financial resources available to them.

4.  Responsible for adequate training and development of all Financial Aid staff.

5.  Provide for self and staff professional and personal development.

6.  Coordinate interoffice functions between Financial Aid and other departments (Admissions, Student Services, Education, Student Accounting, Registrar, etc.).

7.  Prepare reports as necessary.

8.  Counsel students and parents regarding financial plan / eligibility as needed.

9.  Develop objectives to achieve long range goals within the Financial Aid budget.

10.  Perform special projects as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

 

1.  Bachelor’s degree and financial aid experience.

2.  Customer service, problem-solving approach to work.

3.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

4.  The ability to work independently and make decisions based on guidelines.

5.  Ability to follow-up, good with details, and deal with many issues concurrently.

6.  Ability to manage others and/or supervisory experience.
