Director of Special and Annual Gifts Medical and Health Sciences Foundation University of Pittsburgh & UPMC Description: The Medical and Health Sciences Foundation of the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC seeks a dynamic individual to direct its Annual Gifts program. UPMC, a $7 billion integrated health system based in Pittsburgh, PA, is internationally recognized for clinical excellence and, with it academic partner, the University of Pittsburgh, is a leader in leading-edge health sciences research and training. Together these institutions are changing the future of academic medicine. The Medical and Health Sciences Foundation manages fundraising for this enterprise. The Foundation has a goal of $981 million in the University’s current $2 billion capital campaign. The Director of Special and Annual Gifts is responsible for managing a comprehensive broad-based giving program that includes direct mail acquisition and renewal of grateful patient donors from UPMC hospitals and the University or Pittsburgh Cancer Institute as well as outreach to University alumni of six health sciences schools. The Director provides strategic direction, short and long term planning, communication and solicitation strategies involving direct mail, telemarketing, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support. He or she will manage a portfolio of individual annual donors and will collaborate with major gift officers, development directors, alumni relations officers, and communications staff to support the greater development and campaign goals of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC. The Director will be expected to develop a Special Gifts program to identify, cultivate, secure and steward those individuals capable of such gifts to Pitt and UPMC. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree with at least five years of experience in a development operation, preferably in a healthcare, education, or non-profit setting. The incumbent will manage a professional and support staff.
