Disability Services Coordinator

Disability Services Coordinator
Provide support and assistance to students with special needs. As a Disability Services Coordinator, this position will screen, implement, and coordinate disability services to eligible candidates while promoting and ensuring a barrier-free environment for all students attending The College. Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Key Job Elements:
1. Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities to the campus community, and coordinate policies, procedures, programs, and services that affect this student population.
2. Provide consultative and training assistance to the campus community on issues and policies related to disabilities, assist faculty in making necessary classroom accommodations and curricular adaptations for students with disabilities, and assist staff in making co-curricular adaptations for program accessibility.
3. Serve as a liaison to community agencies and other disabilities services professionals throughout the state.
4. Maintain current community contacts and resources, acting as liaison when appropriate.
5. Prepare written reports, verbal presentations, and policies/procedures as requested by Campus Head of Student Affairs.
6. Serve on committees/task forces as deemed appropriate by the Campus Head of Student Affairs.
7. Communicate with campus community as necessary to inform of issues and trends relevant to the development and success of students.
8. Be actively involved in various professional activities and pursuits in order to remain current in the field.
9. Maintain records and reports required by the College, state, and federal agencies.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Interacts With: Faculty, students, parents, and staff
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
1. Knowledge:
a) A Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Student Personnel Administration or other related field is required.
b) Three years of related responsibility in disability services and/or student affairs in a post-secondary institution.
c) Demonstrated knowledge of trends in disability services and the accommodation of students.
2. Skills:
a) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
b) Strong interpersonal skills with both faculty and student populations.
c) Superior organizational and problem resolution skills.
d) Strong computer and analytical skills.
3. Abilities:
a) Work effectively as either a leader or a team member to insure that departmental goals are met.
b) Ability to prioritize work and perform well under pressure.
c) Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
d) Ability to comply with regulatory requirements with respect to student academic records and other documentation.
