District Director, EXCELerator Schools
The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for a District Director for our EXCELerator Schools program in the Hillsborough County.
POSITION SUMMARY
The District Director, EXCELerator Schools Hillsborough County, provides on-site curricular and instructional leadership to the EXCELerator Schools district-wide program in Hillsborough County, Florida. EXCELerator Schools is a three-year expanded partnership between the College Board and Hillsborough County that draws on the College Readiness System programs designed to help urban school districts establish a college going culture and increase the number and diversity of students succeeding in college. A primary focus of the initiative is to support the district as it designs and implements a continuous improvement program to positively impact student achievement. The District Director, EXCELerator Schools plays a critical leadership role in implementing processes that enables the partner district to integrate College Board College Readiness programs into its existing curricula. The District Director must, therefore, have extensive school-based leadership experience, communicating, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of district curriculum and instruction programs.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to educational equity and access for all and demonstrate working knowledge of the following:
· Curriculum and instruction planning, development, and implementation processes particularly at the middle and secondary levels
· Professional development programming and delivery
· Master schedule development
· Knowledge of all College Board College Readiness System programs, including Advanced Placement, PSAT/NMSQT, AP Potential, and SpringBoard
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support the design, development, evaluation and production of curriculum and instruction materials, including institute and workshop manuals, trainer/coach manuals, trainer/coach professional development materials, and collateral communication materials related to curriculum and instruction.
· Support projects and project team designers to create instructional interventions, including providing data and feedback to instructional designers and instructional design assistants and external vendors.
· Serve on project teams designed to develop curriculum and instruction policies and procedures and provide educational developers the implications of new or revised policies and procedures on training initiatives. Collect data to document the effectiveness of curriculum and instruction.
· Work closely with the Senior Director to ensure quality delivery of curriculum and instruction programs that are on time, on budget, and achieving targeted quality metrics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree required
Seven to ten years of school-based administration including a minimum of 5 years as a principal of a middle or high school
Related Skills & Other Requirements:
Instructional design experience
Superior verbal and written communication skills, including oral presentation/public speaking skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to conduct research on instructional topics, methods, and media
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint
Solid organizational, time & task management skills
Ability to effectively handle multiple situations simultaneously
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Available to travel nationally
