Executive Director, Recruitment & Admissions Services
The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for an Executive Director who will create a vision for how the College Board will serve its higher education membership through recruitment & admissions products that connect colleges and universities with students in innovative and compelling ways. This position reports to a vice president for enrollment and is resident in the College Board’s Reston, VA offices.
In articulating this vision, the Executive Director, Recruitment & Admissions Services will bring to market a creative and dynamic system of products and services designed to support both institutional goals and a student’s desire to connect to a college experience that is unique and life-changing. The Executive Director will lead product management and development for the College Board’s suite of recruitment & admissions products which assist institutions in identifying, recruiting, selecting and retaining the most appropriate students. Current products include Student Search Service (SSS), Enrollment Planning Service (EPS), Descriptor PLUS, Admitted Student Questionnaire (ASQ), and Spotlight.
Responsibilities
This position’s key responsibilities include the following:
Manages the business-side of product management and product development processes. Provides leadership in balancing product feature and function priorities, pricing, support and delivery options with the needs of the marketplace. Manages a staff of product managers. Collaboratively delivers customer-driven products and services to connect students to college success and opportunity by enabling colleges and universities to identify, attract and enroll prospective students who best fit the institution’s characteristics and goals; facilitates outreach to prospective students to guide them in their college search.Creates strategies and goals to promote College Board systems, products or services that assist institutions in their recruitment and retention activities.Participates in research to determine the feasibility of creating new products and services; develops plans and budgets; evaluates projected costs against anticipated revenues; coordinates product or system components with other departments, divisions or consultants.Prepares complex reports and position papers for external audiences and senior management review; writes for publication in books, journals or other periodicals; and works with the Communications and Marketing department to develop promotional materials.Serve as chief spokesperson for the College Board’s Recruitment & Admission products, and chief liaison with the senior operating team, software engineering team, and other departments within the College Board; represent Recruitment & Admission products in public and professional forums and inter-company meetings.
Principal Relationships
The Executive Director will collaborate with the Senior Vice President and Vice President for Enrollment to execute a vision for recruitment & admissions products; staff and consultants; College Board corporate, relationship development, information systems, and College Readiness units.
The Executive Director will maintain contact with members, users, government officials, faculty, and institutional administrators and main vendors.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have an advanced degree plus 8 to 10 years of related work experience in postsecondary recruitment and admissions either on campus or in a commercial setting. Candidates must have supervisory, project management and general management experience plus the following requirements:
Understanding of the current recruitment & admission process and a vision of the future stateUnderstands and exemplifies the College Board’s mission of connecting students to college success and have the energy, communication skills and knowledge to translate that context to the Enrollment domain Strong knowledge of contemporary enrollment management issues with a strong customer service orientationComprehensive knowledge of College Board programs and servicesStrong problem resolution skills and Ability to manage complex projectsWillingness to travelFinancial Management Superior oral and written communication skills including excellent presentation skillsStrong analytical and structured problem solving abilities
· Ability to collaborate with others and build strong professional relationships
