PURPOSE: The Field Applications Engineer will provide a regionally-based single focal point for communicating technical design information between Vista Point's sales/BDM and Product Application team, and customers own design and CTO teams. His / her responsibilities will be to secure VPT design wins in future product and to ensure VPT is providing innovative and cost effective solutions that exceed the expectations of our customer. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES / DUTIES: Secure product sales / design opportunities via: Developing and maintaining a relationship with Flextronics’s customer project design teams and the CTO office. Review of customer requirements, identifying and communicating potential issues, and providing recommendations that will satisfy or revise those requirements to meet both VPTs capability and customer specification. Providing technical response to RFQs allowing BDM/sales group to provide timely, detailed quotations to customers. Includes identification of similar products, basic BOM generation and initial product requirements review. Demonstration of camera module product technologies, manufacture and test capabilities, design process and overall technology roadmap to customers. Communicating Project Specific Technical Details between customer and internal teams by: Documenting Customer Requirements, providing appropriate details for use by VPT internal teams to design and manufacture the desired product. Identifying and communicating existing and potential design issues both internally and to the customer. Coordinating product integration efforts between component suppliers (Sensors), Flextronics and the customer. Resolve Customer Issues by: Providing onsite customer technical support to analyze and debug design, assembly, integration, test or other related product issues. Preparing application notes explaining product specific issues and uses. Defining and/or develop new technical support tools to record, resolve or communicate customer issues, for both internal and external use. Contribute to product and manufacturing technology roadmap by: Identifying customer’s current and future needs to BDM and Product Planning teams. Translating those needs into new product or technology recommendations and specifications through interaction with internal design and R&D teams. Bachelors Degree (B.S. Level or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or similar, plus 4-6 years of experience.Skills Required: Very good written and verbal English communication. Schematic generation. Understanding of mechanical drawings. Use of Oscilloscopes, DMM, Solder/SMT equipment. Demonstrated ability to create and sustain relationship from engineers to top levels of technical organizations. Skills Desired: Use of Spectrometers, EMI/RF equipment, Optical equipment. Power Circuit design. USB Hardware and Communication. Programming of C++, Labview, Symbion, Linux or Java. Experience in one or more following areas is preferred: Previous experience as a field applications engineer, preferably supporting Motorola or similar customers Customer interaction, presentations, and direct customer experience Mobile phone, PDA, or PC systems design Digital Imaging.
